Welcome to our website! Charlotte Existential Center (CEC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to personal growth and spreading goodness in our community. We believe that committed love, courage, and the pursuit of truth are the necessary means to achieve these two goals.

We meet weekly to learn and discuss ideas from renown philosophers and psychologists, to encourage each other to be the best version of ourselves we can be, and to organize events intended to put a smile on people's faces.

Recent Community Events

On Saturday September 19, we concluded our 5-day workshop "Personal Growth 101" at SouthPark Regional Library. We are so grateful for this opportunity to partner with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Libraries in sharing with the community these life-changing principles from Abraham Maslow's existential psychology. We are especially thankful to Kathy Hurley, the library manager, for her instrumental role in helping us delivering this incredible information to the public. Thank you, Kathy, for also being in every one of our sessions and for being so enthusiastic and supportive of CEC!

Recently in our Meetings:

These past three weeks, we have discussed what we believe to be the fundamental problem of human being, the source of all our suffering, and what's ultimately responsible for the quality of our lives: Personal Accountability and Self-Esteem.

To say this series of discussions has been revealing and transformative is an understatement. In fact, most of the topics of our upcoming meetings will refer back to these discussions. Soon, I'll be publishing a series of video lectures covering the ideas discussed these past three weeks on Personal Accountability and Self-Esteem. Stay tuned!

In our summer meetings we discussed Maslow's concept of "peak experiences" and the role they play in the process of self-actualization.

We considered the multiple aspects this concept implies including spirituality, mysticism, and even psychedelic experiences, all of which are known to positively transform individuals in a most fundamental way.
